Since its inception, Ingayi Theatre Project has received numerous awards and recognition through its performances and productitions at leading theatres like the Baxter and Market theatres, and at world-renowned festivals such as the Grahamstown Arts Festival. The project sustains itself through money generated from the shows they perfom, as well as donations and grants.
The project's performances are mostly based on community issues and themes such as HIV / AIDS, crime, teenage pregenancy, drug abuse and domestic violence against women and children.
