Russian Ballet Society teacher at Zama Dance School

Uthando is extremely proud to be involved with and supporting Zama Dance School, and provided funding for the April school holiday project at Zama. Zama’s director, Andrew Warth says he is extremely grateful to Uthando for making this workshop possible.

Miss Tamara Moubayed from the Russian Ballet Society (UK) arrived in Cape Town on the 5th April where she began a 4 day dance workshop with the young students and teachers at Zama Dance School in Gugulethu.

Now in its 29th year, Zama Dance School is a registered Non Profit Organization (NPO) and caters for up to 100 students between the ages of 6 and 18 years.

Students are taught ballet three times a week, and work with both locally and internationally acclaimed guest teachers and choreographers. Zama students are also fed nutritious meals after their classes and rehearsals. All class tuition, dance clothes, ballet shoes, costumes and meals are all sponsored by generous organisations and individuals.

In 2014 Zama received the Western Cape Government’s, Cultural Affairs Award for it’s Contribution to the performing Arts in the Western Cape.
