Steppes Travel (UK) supporting girls education in South Africa

Thank you Steppes Travel from the UK for supporting the valuable work of Masizakhe Youth Art Project to empower and develop young girls through dance, drama, poetry, singing and academic support. Masizakhe Youth Art Project is located in a particularly disadvantaged part of Gugulethu and are doing amazing work through the development, empowering and protection of girls in that community.

Wild Voice Adventures musical day with Uthando

A day of pure JOY. Uthando was truly blessed to host a wonderful group of people from The Wild Voice Adventures. The engaging and highly enthusiastic group of visitors spent the day singing together with Major Voices and Isibane se Afrika Choirs. Roar Africa Table Tennis Table

Thank you to Roar Africa for sponsoring a table tennis table at the Sinovuyo Seniors Centre in Khayelitsha. The centre is a hub of activity for young and old alike. The seniors spend their week days at the centre doing various activities. The abundant vegetable garden is managed by ghetto gardener Ludwe Qamata. Moya We Khaya “Spirit of Home” Growing Tunnel

Uthando sponsored the repairs of the growing tunnel at the Moya we Khaya “spirit of home” vegetable garden in Khayelitsha. A devastating winter storm destroyed the tunnel earlier in 2019 . The tunnel is an important element of producing high quality organic vegetables during the hot summer months. On the 30th of September Uthando hosted a group from South African Tourism Australia. The group consisted of journalists from Australia travelling with their children (aged 10 – 15 years of age) with the intention of demonstrating how family focused tours including children can get involved with community initiatives in South Africa. A group of learners from Babington House School (Chislehurst, Kent, UK) had a lot of fun undertaking various fundraising initiatives with the aim of financing a new astroturf for the jungle gym area at Zizamele Educare in Khayelitsha. Astroturf for Kiddies Educare

Thank you JACADA TRAVEL for supporting the continued development of early childhood development centres. The play area at Kiddies Educare in Philippi was recently radically transformed with the installation of a high-quality astroturf. Kiddies Educare provides quality pre-school learning for 70 young pupils under the guidance of principal Margaret Makhafola and her dedicated staff.
