Khayelitsha Art School & Rehabilitation center (KASI RC) is a division of the Makukhanye Art Room and Theatre 4 Change initiative. Established in 2010, KASI RC provides a creative platform and educational space for diverse groups of talented artists. Founded by the award-winning actor, director, and theatre activist, Mandisi Sindo, in 2017, KASI RC is a Shack Art School. It serves as a valuable gathering space for artists that have difficulty accessing the cultural infrastructure that otherwise exists in Cape Town’s city center. As a non-profit organization, KASI RC opens its doors as a performance platform, where artists can practice their craft and heal their communities through creativity and education. Self-expression and skills development are key focus areas of the KASI RC art school. It runs several programs that enable every willing individual to access their creativity and deliver high-quality art and performances.
