Introduction
Pitches For Peace are most incredible eco-conscious soccer pitches in the world! The pilot project is the 5-a-side soccer pitch at Woodlands Primary which was created initially to train the builders who would go on to build Phase 1 at Goal50 Early Childhood Development Centre. After School Spaces That Guarantee Youth Participation
After seeing how much the children at Woodlands Primary have enjoyed their new 5-a-side soccer facility, Uthando South Africa & Great Commission United came up with the idea to build one of these pitches at every school in South Africa! Why? These facilities guarantee youth participation in after school programmes, which is important as these spaces are where important life lessons & values can be taught!
Building Peace Bridges Between Communities
Once a few more of these soccer pitches are built at schools within the Cape Flats region, an interschool 5-a-side soccer league will be established! This initiative will bring some much joy & excitement for the schools that will participate, and ultimately through a collective league philosophy of peace, love & kindness, communities will engage peacefully, which we believe will leave a lasting legacy of peace across South African communities!
We Need Your Help
Help us build Pitches For Peace at every school in South Africa, so that peaceful bridges can be established between communities, children can learn through play, learning life skills such as team work, communication, & ethics, and educators are afforded time to spend time to impart wisdom & life lessons! There is so much value in these incredibly unique facilities!
