Board Member: Achumile “Ace” Majija is currently the Chief Executive responsible for Commercial, Operations, and Strategy across Africa at Prudential.
Prior to this role, he served as Chief Executive for Strategic Initiatives and Market Growth for Prudential’s Anglophone markets, following his tenure as CEO of Prudential Uganda. He also held the position of Chief Executive for Retail, Corporate, and Strategy across Francophone markets.
Achumile has held a range of leadership roles across multiple regions, including Chief Commercial Officer in Ghana and Chief of Staff in Poland. He also played a key role in establishing Prudential’s Africa operations, overseeing Risk, Compliance, Operations, and Governance. Earlier in his career, he worked at Old Mutual Investment Group, focusing on manager research in hedge funds and alternative investments, and at Sanlam Investment Management in investment operations and strategy. Since joining Prudential, he has worked across London, Poland, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, and Uganda.
He holds a BCom in Economics and Finance from UPE, a BCom Honours in Financial Analysis and Portfolio Management from UCT, and an MBA from the University of Leeds.
Achumile is actively involved in leadership and governance. He serves on the boards of Computershare (Pty) Ltd and the Bank of Kigali Group, and is a member of YPO. His achievements have earned him numerous recognitions, including Young Global Shaper by the World Economic Forum, Choiseul 100 Laureate, Rising Star by the South African Chamber of Commerce in the UK, and inclusion in Mail & Guardian’s 200 Young Influential South Africans. He has also been recognised among the Top 50 Most Influential Young South Africans by Avance Media, and as a Leader of Tomorrow by the Crans Montana Forum.
He is deeply committed to social impact and believes in giving back to society. His passions include financial inclusion, social entrepreneurship, youth development, and empowerment, alongside a strong interest in economics and politics.
Achumile is a recipient of several prestigious scholarships and awards, including the Vodacom Scholarship, the Baden-Württemberg Scholarship (Germany), the Sir Abe Bailey Trust Scholarship (UK), the University Medal of Excellence for Academics and Leadership (NMMU), and the Chevening Scholarship from the British Council.
