Nigist Wigstøl is our Audio-Visual Storyteller currently working on the Heroes of the Cape Flats Initiative.
Nigist Wigstøl is an audio-visual storyteller, visual anthropologist, and creative producer from Norway, operating at the intersection of music, youth empowerment, and human rights. Holding a Master’s degree in Visual Anthropology from UiT The Arctic University of Norway, she blends ethnographic rigor with creative expression.
At Uthando South Africa, Nigist serves as Field Researcher and Visual Storyteller, where she leads community-rooted qualitative research and participatory documentation across Cape Town’s townships. She founded and directs the Heroes of the Cape Flats initiative, an umbrella project archiving youth culture through multimodal publications, producing the Uthando SA Podcast, and spearheading the Cape Flats Artist Collective.
