Isiseko, “The Foundation” in isiXhosa center, is an Early Childhood Development Center (ECD) non-profit organization located in the Mfuleni township. Founded in 2000 by the beautiful and warm, Mama Zoliswa Siko, Isiseko caters to more than 120 vulnerable and under-privileged children in the community. The Educare center serves as a safe, nurturing environment for the children to receive pre-school education up to Grade R and an after-school supervision facility. The classes are divided into three sets of age groups ranging between 0-18 months, 3-4 years and 5-6 years, under the care of a team of qualified ECD teachers, alongside the principal. The educators receive ongoing support and training from Ikamva Labantu – a large and reputable local NGO, which supports the ECD’s center, through ongoing teacher training and other developmental support. With the assistance of cherished partners and donors, Uthando helped transform the center, from a small government house and an informal wooden structure, into a world-class educational facility.
